Welcome back to a new term. In assembly this week we spoke about our value of enthusiasm. In 2023 Mrs Spencer is encouraging us to think about how we care for our brain. Our brain needs rest, nourishment and stimulation to keep healthy. We talked about what we are enthusiastic about and how we can care for ourselves. Mrs Spencer is reading more, trying yoga and taking lots of outdoor muddy walks! What are you doing to enthusiastically care for your brain?
The student leaders and captains will be asking you for some ideas soon!
Thank you to Mrs Tamblyn and Mrs Hillyard for organising another successful Elf Day in aid of the Alzheimer's Society. We raised £176 for a very worthy cause close to many of our hearts, as well as having lots of Elf-ish fun!
Thank you so much for coming to support the wonderful PTA and the school at the Christmas Fair. There was a wonderful atmosphere across the school and fun, food and festive gifts galore!
Well done to all of the children, families and staff who created a really magical performance in a magical place. A well deserved 2nd place and 1st place in our St Cleer musical hearts.
Well done to all of the runners who took part in the Lanhydrock meet on Friday - you ran with courage, determination and joy! You are role models to us all - the school values in action!
This week has been National Anti-Bullying Week – the theme this year is Reach Out.
In assembly this week we asked and discussed these questions:
• What is bullying?
• What is a bystander?
• What can we do about it?
Using our values of curiosity and kindness we reached the consensus that speaking to someone is always the best approach. This could be to our friends, families, trusted adults at school. It could also be speaking directly to someone who we think is bullying or is experiencing bullying. The communication of our thoughts and feelings is key to the solution! At St Cleer we have agreed to keep our eyes open, our ears available and our hands reaching out to support as best we can. There will always be someone willing to help, so remember to reach out!
Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day owing to the tradition of wearing a remembrance poppy) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.
Today in Remembrance assembly we marked 2 minutes silence and remembered those in our lives who have been affected by war.
I remembered Arthur and Annie's Great-Grandad Sergeant Major D Otter - who held onto that smile for all of his life in spite of having to live through experiences he could never have anticipated.
We remember them for they gave their today for our tomorrow.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
